If you live, work, attend school, or pay property taxes in New York State is eligible to receive library cards free of charge at the Brooklyn Public Library, Queens Public Library, and New York Public Library. (If none of these apply to you, then you can still get a library card from the Queens Public Library, but it will cost you $50.)
